Brunei sends four athletes to Commonwealth Youth Games

Brunei Darussalam will be sending a contingent of four athletes and four officials to the 7th Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago taking place from August 4 to 11.

A flag handover ceremony was held at Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ (MCYS) Digadong Hall on Monday.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad handed over the flag to Deputy Director of Youth and Sports Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah bin Haji Yusly as Chef de Mission of the contingent.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Assistant Officer (iReady) at the Youth Development Centre Md Irfan bin Haji Ali Akhbar.

It was followed by a welcoming speech by Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.

The event continued with the flag handover and concluded with a group photo session.

Brunei will participate in the swimming event. The Sultanate’s last Commonwealth Youth Games participation was in Samoa in 2015.

The contingent will leave for Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday. – Adib Noor
