E-sports, fencing teams leave for SEA Games in Cambodia

National e-sport and fencing teams left the country to compete in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday.

Brunei Darussalam is represented in e-sports by Muhd Safwan Hakimi bin Abdullah Husaini, Muhammad Daniel Hadhrami Saifuddin bin Muhaimin, Mohammad Hadif Fadhli bin Sufari, Md Danish Haqeeme Hizami bin Muhaimin and Mohammad Haziq bin Asahrin. All athletes will compete in the sabre categories.

The national fencing athletes are Muhd Anaqi Danish bin Asahrin, Adrian Wong Kiat Ming, Mohammad Haziq bin Asahrin and Hajah Anis Sabrina binti Haji Yahya. National fencing coach Rocky Poerawinata said, “We had a successful training camp in Korea recently.

“The training was three weeks and we also competed in a junior fencing grand prix which is part of the Olympic qualifying event.“

He added, “Some of our athletes competed and won against opponents from France and Korea.

“It was very good experience for our athletes. With the much needed experience, we will try our best in the SEA Games.“
