Thursday, August 24, 2017

BRUNEI Darussalam’s national sprinter Muhammad Noor Firdaus Ar-Rasyid bin Haji Mohd Idris yesterday night finished fifth in the final of the 200m event of the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2017 by clocking 21.45sec in the athletic track of Bukit Jalil Stadium.

He managed to outpace sprinters from Thailand, Philippines and Singapore to the finish line of the race.

However Muhammad Noor Firdaus Ar-Rasyid’s finest moment was at the semi-final 1 of the 200m when he clinched a spot in the final.

In the afternoon event, he managed to smash his own personal and national record in the 200m event by recording 21.39 sec by finishing second at the semi-final 1 of the 200m event. The previous record was set last year in the Malaysia Open at 21.64sec.

The record setting time is a perfect gift for Md Shahjohan bin Haji Shari, the Brunei team manager for athletic to the SEA Games who celebrated his birthday yesterday.
