The final day of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam's (NFABD) Elite Under-12 players' centralised training camp was abruptly stopped yesterday morning due to heavy rain and strong winds.

NFABD organised the four-day centralised training camp last Friday for elite Under-12 players who were selected from each of the NFABD's Under-12 Centre of Excellence (COE) programmes in all four districts. According to a press release issued by NFABD yesterday, a total of 59 players stayed at the Sports School hostel, where they held two training sessions each day at the Sports School football field in Kg Pulaie.

A group of eight NFABD coaches and also coaches from the four districts were involved in supervising the training camp. Players were taught ball feeding techniques, dribbling, passing, support play and basic defending and attacking play during the training sessions.

Besides physical training, the players were also taught certain values and character building tools for their personal development. Practice matches were also played between a NFABD selection of Under-13 players against the elite Under-12 players.

NFABD deputy president Pehin Datu Indera Sugara Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Mohammad Yusof Abu Bakar was also present during the training session last Saturday to show his support for the young players.

The players will now return to their respective districts and undergo weekly structural trainings with an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) C certified coach.

NFABD considers this the beginning of an elite training programme where players will go on a continuous structural training regiment starting from the Under-12 age group, which will then progress to the various NFABD elite youth teams.

Currently, NFABD has four elite youth teams in the age groups of Under-12, Under-14, Under-17 and Under-22.
