Lions lead Brunei National Lawn Bowls Premier League 2014 after sixth round

The Lions took three points in the sixth round of the inaugural Brunei National Lawn Bowls Premier League 2014 to top the table with 13 and a half points on Sunday.

Lions out-rolled Scorpions 18-15 in the triples, 26-11 in the doubles and 25-16 in the singles. They boosted their previous lead of one point to two over Thunders after winning the triples, doubles and singles match at the Lawn Bowls Arena of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas. Thunders, who were leading after the fifth round, only managed to secure two points over Sabres to sit second with 11 and a half points.

Panthers are third with 11 points and Jets fourth with 10. The Sabres are fifth also with 10 points to their name while the Tigers sit in sixth with nine points. The Stingrays are seventh with nine points while the Scorpions are eighth with eight and a half points. Rounding off the table are the Warrriors and the Eagles.

The Warriors are ninth with five and Eagles at the bottom with two and a half points. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs once the 10-team competition completes its ninth round. The Premier League kicked off on May 6 and is the first of its kind in the country, attracting 30 lawn bowlers from 10 three-player teams.

The tournament is organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Lawn Bowls Association with the cooperation of the Department of Youth and Sports. Each round consists of one game of singles, one game of pairs and one game of triples. The singles games will be 25 shots up with four bowls. The pairs game is three bowls and 18 ends while the triples are contested with two bowls and 18 ends.

Three points are on offer for each round.
