Bad day for Brunei athletes

Brunei's pencak silat duo, Md Amirul Azmi Hj Ali Hamzah and Siti Nabila Ali failed to move on during the 17th Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Perlis.

Md Amirul unfortunately fell to Negeri Sembilan's Muhammad Ahmad Willing Aliff in the men's 60-65kg class preliminary rounds on Thursday. Siti Nabila suffered a loss at the hands of Terangganu's Siti Khamishah Pohot in the women's 60-65kg class preliminary rounds at the Kompleks Sukan Negeri on Friday.

The karatedo team also ended on the wrong side after three of their athletes lost in the first round yesterday. Syafiqah Awang Mohamad was taken out by Perlis's Hazimah Jamil @ Japar in the women's 45kg kumite.

Abang Muhammad Hasif Abang Perwira fell to Sarawak's Kaartic A/L Chiramjeevi in the men's 55kg kumite. Mairul Mohammad lost to Sabah's Mohamad Taufik Jafar in the men's 67kg kumite at the Kolej Matrikulasi Perlis.
