What a difference a year makes.

DPMM FC players were treated to a hero's welcome this time last year after successfully winning the 2012 edition of the Singapore League Cup.

The reception may not have been as boisterous as when they won the cup for the first time in 2009 but the team were still greeted with the sound of hadrahs upon touching down at the Brunei International Airport.

A small but warm reception from close family and friends awaited them at the greeting area.

Fast forward one year and the scene is a very different one.

The team were met with poor reception upon their return to the Sultanate yesterday after coming second best in the tournament.

Brunei's only professional sports team lost 4-0 to new champions Balestier Khalsa on Saturday at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.

Let's hope the squad will use this as extra motivation to close out the remainder of the Singapore League (S-League) season strongly.

DPMM FC are currently 10th in the 12-team league, scoring just 24 points from a total of 21 matches.
