As if making history was not enough, national runner Maziah Mahusin (pic) has also been given the honour to carry the country's flag at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics on Friday.
It was earlier disclosed that the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BNOC) had planned for Maziah to carry the flag at the Olympic Stadium on Friday.
"I feel really honoured to be the one to carry the Brunei flag at the opening ceremony," confirmed Maziah during an interview with The Brunei Times before leaving for London at the Brunei International Airport in Berakas on Monday.
This is the second time that she will be the flag bearer for the country as she also did so for the 1st Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Singapore back in 2010.
She will be the first female athlete from Brunei to participate in the Olympics.
