Bruneians continue to smash records at Commonwealth Youth Games
Sunday, September 11, 2011

It was another impressive outing for Bruneian athletes on the second day of the 4th Commonwealth Youth Games at the Isle of Man, United Kingdom.

Meanwhile Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) president, His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, departed the Isle of Man for home on Sept 9 at 9.50am.

Three different swims produced three new personal best records for the Sultanate's swimmers, with Anderson Lim Chee Wei leading the charge yesterday by smashing his own 100m freestyle record with a time of 55.88s.

It's also the fastest ever time in this event achieved by a Bruneian.

Lim went on to record another personal best in the 100m butterfly by finishing with a time of 1.01.70 just 30 minutes after competing in the 100m freestyle.

Florence Sea Wern Lyn followed in his foot steps by finishing her 400m freestyle race in a new personal record of 5.26.56, a mind blowing 12 seconds faster than her previous record.

The only athlete representing Brunei in the track and field events, Rozmacynthia Simbilan finished fifth in the semi-finals of the 400m event yesterday.

The 16-year-old's time of 69.57s was unfortunately insufficient to see her through to the finals.

Rozmacynthia will run in the 400m Hurdles Women's event today.
