Four members of the Brunei Darussalam contingent, comprising the weightlifting team (three athletes and one coach) departed for Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday, to participate in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games 2025.
Acting Director of Youth and Sports Zainab binti Haji Morshidi was present at the Brunei International Airport to send off the contingent and offer words of advice.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a prayer for safety led by Shahram bin Haji Abd Rahman. The national weightlifting athletes will begin competing on December 13 at Chonburi Sports School, Chonburi.
Officers and staff of the Department of Youth and Sports, the Brunei Darussalam National Weightlifting Association, and the athletes’ families were also present at the airport.
The final group of the Brunei contingent will depart on Friday. – JAMES KON
