Brunei athletes depart for SEA Games in Bangkok | Borneo Bulletin Online

Some 36 members of the Brunei Darussalam contingent, comprising 21 karate, sepak takraw and taekwondo athletes, as well as 15 officials including the assistant chef de mission, secretariat officers, medical officers and coaches departed for Bangkok, Thailand yesterday to participate in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) 2025 scheduled from December 9-20.

Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan was present at the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell and deliver words of encouragement to the contingent.

The send-off ceremony saw the recitation of Doa Selamat, led by Shahram bin Haji Abd Rahman, followed by a brief address to the Brunei Darussalam contingent and concluded with a group photo session.

For the 33rd SEA Games, Brunei Darussalam will compete in nine sports out of the 54 contested events, including swimming (aquatics), weightlifting, netball, karate, pencak silat, polo, sepak takraw, taekwondo and wushu.

The next group of the contingent is scheduled to depart for Bangkok, Thailand tomorrow. – Lyna Mohamad
