Farhah Syahirah binti Mohd Sahmrin represented Brunei in the Women’s Individual Kata.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, witnessed Brunei’s national karate athletes compete in their respective matches at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, currently underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Farhah Syahirah binti Mohd Sahmrin represented Brunei in the Women’s Individual Kata, while Awang Mohammad Nazirul bin Haji Johari competed in the Men’s Individual Kata.
In the quarterfinal, Farhah Syahirah scored 37.7 points against her Algerian opponent, who advanced with a score of 38.3. Meanwhile, Mohammad Nazirul triumphed in his Round of 16 match against a Nigerian competitor with 39 points but fell in the quarterfinal against a UAE athlete, scoring 38.2 points.
During the event, His Royal Highness also offered encouraging advice and words of inspiration to the athletes, motivating them to continue striving for excellence on the international stage. – James Kon
