The Brunei Darussalam contingent for the 7th Commonwealth Youth Games departed for Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad bade farewell and shared words of advice to the team.
The contingent, led by Deputy Director of Youth and Sports Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah bin Haji Yusly as Chef de Mission, comprises the chief secretary, safeguarding lead officer, coach, and four swimmers.
The athletes Joel Ling Thai Yu, Zeke Chan Zhi Yie, Hayley Wong Ann Yue, and Sharmeen binti Mohammad Mharvin hope to deliver their best performances after undergoing intensive training.
In an interview with the Bulletin, Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah said the competition from experienced athletes will test the Bruneian athletes, but they are ready to embrace the challenge and give their best.
Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and other senior MCYS officials were present at the airport.
