Brunei Darussalam enjoyed a podium finish in the recently-held Spartan Sarawak after a local obstacle course racing competitor (OCR) Afiqah binti Haji Hanapi bagged bronze in the Super 25-29 Years Age Group in Miri Sarawak, Malaysia.
The country’s obstacle course race talent recorded a time of 2:06:08s in one of the world’s most popular obstacle race events.
It marked her second podium appearance under the Spartan brand having previously clinched bronze in the Spartan Stadion Sprint in Johor last September.
Singapore’s Eva Xia clinched gold after clocking an impressive time of 1:38:41s with Malaysia’s Bella Zakri claiming silver with a time of 2:05:13s.
The event also attracted a number of Bruneians with the country rapidly showing interest in the discipline in recent times.
The country’s highest ranked participant was Rosdiman Lakim who finished 22nd out of 209 entrants by gender in the overall age group ranking. He missed out on a podium finish after placing fourth out of 34 runners in his age group.
His compatriot Shahril Muin also came close of attaining a medal after coming fourth in his age group.
