BRUNEI Darussalam national men’s hockey team made a steady improvement in continuing their development particularly in the regional scene despite slipping to a 3-0 loss to Myanmar in the Men’s Asian Hockey Challenge 2017 at the Theinphyu Stadium in Yangon yesterday.
In an encounter which drew similarities against Hong Kong, the national team minimised the score gap which was an improvement to the 11 that breached their defence during their first meeting.
Brunei only conceded once in the second half after Myanmar captain Than Htut Win grabbed the second of his game in the 55th minute having established his side’s lead in the fourth minute.
The national team kept a solid backline for most periods of the match having denied Myanmar from scoring for two quarters and nearly made it three until Than intervened.
Ni Zar scored the other goal which made it 2-0 just two minutes shy before the end of the first quarter.
The national team conceded three times in just 11 minutes inspired by Than when the sides first met in the earlier round.
Meanwhile, in the other match, Taipei made five wins in a row after cruising to an easy 5-0 victory over Hong Kong.
Brunei will conclude their campaign against Taipei today while Myanmar will take on Hong Kong to determine the second and third placings.
