THE National Karate team received a warm welcome yesterday at the Arrival Hall of the Brunei International Airport, after they claimed the bronze medal at the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur.
Welcoming the contingent was Haji Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, who also presented the congratulatory sashes on the female Kata trio comprising Amirah Syahidah binti Abdul Rahim, Aufa Bazilah binti Abdul Razak and Wahidah binti Kamarul Zaman.
Also present were senior officers of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Amirah Syahidah said that the team was happy and proud to bring home the medals.
“We were nervous but all our effort and hard work paid off,” she added.
The team won bronze alongside Indonesia in the Female Team Kata after they lost 5-0 in the semifinals against Vietnam, who claimed top prize after beating Malaysia 3-2.
