HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to attend a get-together ceremony with Brunei Darussalam’s contingent taking part in the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur, at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur yesterday morning.
Also in attendance at the get-together ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah in his capacity as Manager of the polo team; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, both participating in the mixed polo event at the 29th SEA Games; and Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah as Manager of the netball team.
Soon after arrival, His Majesty was invited for a group-photo session with Brunei Darussalam’s contingent and later introduced to the Bruneian athletes competing in various events.
Also accompanying His Majesty at the ceremony was Dato Paduka Haji Alaihuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Haji Awang Mohd Taha, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia.
Brunei Darussalam’s contingent at the 29th SEA Games comprises 172 people including 105 athletes and 67 officials. Brunei is participating in 14 events and so far, the country has collected one silver medal in wushu and five bronze medals – in sepak takraw (three), netball and wushu (one each).
