BRUNEI Darussalam National Sepak Takraw team bagged their second medal of the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after winning bronze in the non-repetition primary event of the men’s chinlone at the Titiwangsa Indoor Stadium yesterday.
The Brunei team which comprised Ismail Ang, Jamaludin bin Awang Haji Marzi, Humaidi bin Brahim, Mohammad Hafizzuddin Jamaludin, Abdul Mu’iz Nordin, Muhammad Basyiruddin Haji Kamis, Abdul Hadi bin Saidin and Muhammad Azri bin Awang Abdul Harith accumulated 280 points to share joint bronze with Cambodia who managed 147 points as losing semi-finalists.
Thailand clinched the gold medal after amassing 363 points and with Malaysia chasing the winning mark settled for silver after posting 300 points.
International Sepak Takraw Asia Federation (ISTAF) deputy president Boonchai Lorhpipat presented the prizes to winners.
According to Malaysia head coach Mohd Husni Abdullah, it was easily the hosts’ best achievement after accomplishing only bronze in the 2015 edition.
