Brunei failed to add to their medal tally at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Perlis yesterday.

Mohd Adenin Bolhan finished eighth out of 13 athletes in the shot put event at the Stadium Tuanku Syed Putra in Kangar. Johor's Goh Wei Kiang won the gold with a distance of 13.54 metres.

Silver went to Muhammad Irfan Shamshuddin of Negeri Sembilan with his throw of 13.12m while Perak's Meveeqhen Ravi Chandran completed the podium with his throw of 12.69m. Adenin improved on almost every throw before a fault on his sixth attempt. His first throw was 11.37 metres before getting to 11.81m on his second attempt.

The Bruneian then notched 11.90m and 11.86m on his third and fourth attempts respectively before his best throw of 12.13m. It spelt the the end of Adenin's SUKMA campaign after he placed 13th in the men's discus on Saturday after a throw of 34.07m, falling short of his 40m personal best.

His compatriot Norhidayatullah Johari also completed her events after failing to qualify for the final of the women's 200m event yesterday. She placed third in Heat 1 with a time of 27.72 seconds. Her personal best remains at 26.04s.

Kang Woan Yi of Perak won the heat with a time of 26.31s followed by Nurshima Chong of Sabah on 27.23s. Norhidayatullah competed in the women's 100m on Thursday where she clocked a time of 12.87s in Heat 2 and 12.98s in the semi-finals.

Her best time remains at 12.42s. Over at the Kolej Matrikulasi Perlis in Arau, taekwando exponent Muhd Ameerul Solehen Mohd fell to Muhamad Fikren Ahmad Kamal of Negeri Sembilan in the welter weight (74-80kg) category yesterday.

The match ended 12-12 before the jury selected Muhamad Fikren as the winner. Karateka Md Izzuddin Irfan Md Faizal bagged the country's only medal of the tournament so far on Wednesday when the 19-year-old defeated Julius Goh of Johor 9-2 in the final of the 84kg and above category.

Federal Territories are the new leaders in the standings with 47 gold, 29 silver and 41 bronze medals. Terengganu, overall champions in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012, dropped to second place with 32 gold, 39 silver and 20 bronze medals.

Sarawak follow in third with 32 gold, 22 silver and 25 bronze.
