The inaugural Brunei National Lawn Bowls Premier League 2014 continued last night with the singles and pairs events at the Lawn Bowls Arena of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
The singles event saw Thunder get off to a winning start by edging Eagles 25-24. Jets, meanwhile, defeated the Warriors 26-14.
The Scorpions also got off to winning ways, defeating the Panthers 25-20. Over in the pairs event, the Lions feasted on the Tigers in a 15-14 struggle while the Panthers beat the Scorpions 14-11.
Thunder were again victorious against the Eagles in the pairs event with a scoreline of 26-6. Sabres made easy work of Stingrays 27-9 while the Jets cruised past the Warriors 26-11.
Thunder currently top the league followed by Lions and then Jets in third. All three teams are sitting on three points.
The Sabres and the Panthers are fourth and fifth respectively with two points to their names. Stingrays are in seventh followed by the Scorpions in eighth. Both teams only have one point.
Tigers, Eagles and Warriors have yet to record any points in the tournament after the first round. The competition continues on Sunday with the second round of the singles and pairs events starting at 4pm.
Each round of the tournament comprises one game of singles, one game of pairs and one game of triples. The top four teams after nine rounds will advance into the next phase of the tournament.
