Wednesday, May 7, 2014

The Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee (BDADC) is continuing its efforts to promote clean sports in the Sultanate.

Some 40 participants comprising athletes in the field of hockey, athletics, cycling and netball from the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Saa'datul Bolkiah Secondary School in Lumut attended a talk on anti-doping conducted by Head of Education & Outreach of BDADC Sukardi Kaderi on Saturday.

The talk gave an overview of the BDADC and the World Anti Doping Agency, before going on to explain what is doping and its effects.

"BDADC will continue its education and outreach series by giving a talk to the Brunei contingent for the Malaysian Games (SUKMA), Youth Olympic Games and Asian Games... and for the South East Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship 2014 which our country will be hosting this year," said Sukardi.

"This is to ensure that our athletes are clean from any prohibited substances..

The athletes themselves, however, must remember that they are responsible for what goes in their body," he said.
