The Hawks were crowned champions of the 2nd Brunei Squash League campaign last night at the Squash Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The Hawks recorded 119 points in the five-team league table ahead of the National Stadium Team who notched 98 points.

Much of the Hawks' success lied int the hands of their main player Mokshin Khan who dominated the competition by winning all his matches throughout the tournament.

'I feel very good about myself and I feel like I am at the top of my game this season,' said Mokshin in an interview with The Brunei Times last night.

'I felt that I gave my (opponents) quite the competition and I am very proud of this achievement.

'I am also happy with how the sport has been developing this year, and I hope to see more and more players join the league in the future,' he said.

Mokhsin played for Young Lions last year, helping the team win the title in the inaugural edition of the competition.

The Pakistani, alongside Muhd Kamaluddin Abu Bakar, Muhd Shavez Cheema and Abang Huzairi Abang Ali, finished at the top of the league with 135 points.

Mokhsin used to play professionally for Pakistan but was sifelined by an injury in 2002.

'I have never really recovered from (the injury) but now I feel quite good,' he said.

The only match contested last night saw Jerudong International School (JIS) Bulls emerge victorious in their battle for third place, defeating Institute of Higher Learning (IPT) Lions 3-1.

JIS started off strongly with Vincent Lawrence putting them ahead after beating Abang Huzairi 3-0 in the first bout.

Muhd Shavez pulled one back for IPT Lions after defeating Phil Lowther 3-0, but Rahim Mustafa would made it 2-1 for JIS after a 3-0 victory over Hamidah Ismail.

Adrian Wallace Scott defeated Nur Amal Rahman 3-0 to give his team the 3-1 victory.

JIS Bulls ended the league with 91 points ahead of fourth-placed IPT Lions, who recorded 88 points.

The Army Team were last with 67 points.
