The President Cup clash between Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) and Setia Bakti Veteran was postponed to a later date due to unfavourable pitch condition as a result of heavy rainfall at the Stadium Hassanal Bolkiah at the Royal Brunei Police Forces headquarters in Gadong yesterday.

In an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday, MS PDB's assistant coach, Sahrin Hj Mohd Jaya, said the postponement might affect the current form of his team.

"My players are in great form at the moment... especially after last week," said Sahrin referring to their dominant 14-2 win against Kilugus last Friday.

Mohd Nadzrin Abdullah was MS PDB's best player in said match, the midfielder bagging nine goals for the club.

Noradli Sahat and Hamdi Hj Abdul Hamdi both scored a brace, while captain Puncha Gunong also found the net once for the policemen.

"All the players are ready to face Setia Bakti today (yesterday) and now we have to wait. and this might affect our form in the tournament," he said.

Sahrin, though, made it clear that no blame could be put on the match officials and organisers for calling off the match.

"There is nothing much we can do. We hope that we can keep the good form until our next match," he said.

Tournament organiser VFA would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and an announcement on the date and venue of the rematch will be made in time.

Rossmy Villa Veteran and Kilugus FC were set to see action at the Awang Semaun Secondary School in Kampong Lumapas yesterday but the former were awarded a 3-0 win after the latter failed to turn up for the game.

The only matches that commenced yesterday were the matches between Stonevilla FC and Brunei Shell Recreational Club (BSRC) Veteran at the Temburong Sports Complex in Batu Apoi and the clash between IKLS Veteran and Media FC at Masin Secondary School.

IKLS defeated Media 3-1, while, BSRC made easy work of Stonevilla FC with a 7-2 win.

The VFA President Cup was not the only tournament affected by the recent rainy season with the DST Super League match on Friday also called-off.

Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team (LLRC FT) and Jerudong FC were scheduled to go head-to-head at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas, but the game had to be pushed back by the organiser, National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) because of the "less than satisfactory pitch conditions".
