The Hawks were held to a 2-2 draw by Jerudong International School (JIS) Bulls in the 2nd Brunei Squash League on Tuesday.
There was only one match contested on the day after the Army Team failed to turn up for their match against the Institute of Higher Learning (IPT) Lions, thus giving the latter team a 4-0 win.
The Hawks started off strongly when Mokhsin Khan put them ahead after defeating Vincent Lawrence 3-2 at the Squash Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Rosman Roslin made it 2-0 for the Hawks after a 3-0 victory over Catherine Carter.
Phil Lowther would defeat Aziz Hj Japar 3-0 to pull one back for the JIS Bulls before Adrian Wallace Scott defeated Hjh Rosnah Lakim 3-0 as the game ended in a draw.
The Hawks currently top the league table followed by second-placed National Stadium Team, third-placed JIS Bulls, fourth-placed IPT Lions and fifth-place Army Team.
Army Team will go up against National Stadium Team on Tuesday while JIS Bulls will play against the IPT Lions.
The tournament, which is sanctioned by the Brunei Racquet Squash Association, is co-organised by 1stopbrunei.com and JIS to help develop young squash players and to promote the sport in the country.
A total of five teams are vying for top honours in the competition and matches are contested every Tuesday starting at 7.30pm.
The second edition has seen an increase of participation of female players, with each team competing in the tournament required to at least having one female athlete in their team.
A new unofficial team called the Loan Service team was also introduced in the league last month.
They will be playing any team which does not have a game as they will be joining the next edition of the league in the future.
Young Lions' Mohsin, Muhd Kamaluddin Abu Bakar, Muhd Shavez and Abang Huzairi Abang Ali defeated Lawrence, Carter, Chris Kruger and Lowther of Jerudong International School (JIS) Tigers 3-1 in their last league match to top the table with 135 points and be crowned champions.
Their senior team Bru Lions were second on 130 points.
