Goodbye Myanmar, hello Singapore!
The curtains came down on the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games last night after two weeks of competition in Myanmar.
The arrival of Myanmar President U Thein Sein and his wife Daw Khin Khin Win marked the opening of the event as fireworks lit up the Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Naypyidaw.
Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC).
It followed with a series of cultural performances which included the royal elephant dance and traditional sport chinlone.
It continued with the procession of athletes from the 11 participating countries before the Games were declared closed by Myanmar Vice President, U Nyan Tun.
The SEA Games Federation (SEAGF) flag was then lowered and handed over by Myanmar Union Minister U Tint Hsan to Singapore Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin.
The event continued with a Singaporean performance before another dazzling fireworks display marked the end of the ceremony.
Thailand finished at the summit with a dominant performance for a total haul of 107 gold, 94 silver and 81 bronze medals.
Hosts Myanmar finished in the runner-up spot with 85 gold, 62 silver and 85 bronze while Vietnam are in third with 73 gold, 86 silver and 86 bronze medals.
Brunei finished the Games with a haul of one gold, one silver and six bronze medals - a result that landed them at the bottom of the 11-country table.
