Contested at the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo, Brunei fell behind in the 12th minute after Ilham Udin opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
Alqomar Tehupelasury doubled the lead for Indonesia with a goal in the 27th minute before Ilham scored his second of the match three minutes later to see his team up 3-0.
It was 4-0 on the hour mark with Muchlis Syaifulloh on target and he completed the rout after finding the back of the net in the 85th minute.
The Sultanate will play their next game tomorrow against Thailand.
Two other matches in the same group were also contested at the Petrokimia Gresik yesterday.
Vietnam edged Thailand 3-2 while Malaysia and Myanmar played out to a 1-1 draw.
The competition continues today with two Group A matches.
Singapore will take on the Philippines in the first game while Cambodia and Laos will do battle in the second.
