The Brunei Darussalam Sepak Takraw Association will be using the Sepak Takraw Regu Under-20 Youth Championships to identify talent for the Department and Youth and Sports Under-20 scheme.
Groups for the competition were officially drawn yesterday.
Only eight teams will be taking part in the tournament next Friday after BIPA pulled out one of their teams due to last minute changes.
Group A comprises Sports School Council A, Laksamana, Temburong and Pg Isteri Hjh Mariam Serasa Secondary School.
Group B is made up of Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, Sports School Council B, the second BIPA team and Kuala Lurah.
The tournament was open to all schools, clubs and districts but unfortunately there will be no teams representing the Tutong and Belait districts.
Temburong are the only team from outside of the Brunei-Muara district competing in the tournament.
The draw for the first game will be made at 9am before the official start of the competition at the Multipurpose Hall of the Menglait Sports Complex.
The draws will either see Sports School Council A take on Pg Isteri Hjh Mariam Serasa Secondary School and Laksamana against Temburong or Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School face Kuala Lurah and Sports School Council B against BIPA.
The format of the group stages will be in a best of three sets whereas the final matchup will be determined by a best of five sets.
The Brunei-Muara district won the meet last year which saw participation from all four districts.
Also competing in last year's edition were the Sports School Council and Brunei Sports School.- Syarif Rasani.
