The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam have denied the appointment of Mohammad Tunjang as the manager of the national Under-19 team at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-19 Youth Championships in Indonesia next month and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 tournament in Thailand in October.
Articles published on the August 1 and August 4 edition of The Brunei Times regarding the appointment of Mohammad Tunjang as manager of the national Under-19 team was incorrect and the error is very much regreted.
"I was informed about the job by NFABD at the end of June (and) I took it without giving a second thought," Mohammad was quoted as saying in the August 1 edition.
NFABD have said that the above statement was made based on assumption.
The Brunei Times was also informed by the country's governing body for football that the appointment of other officials including a manager to manage the Under-19 team will be announced in due course.
NFABD last week announced that Dayem Hj Ali will be coaching the national Under-19 team in two tournaments.
Dayem was also the head coach of the national Under-23 team at the 2011 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
