The national rugby squad defeated the Barbarians 59-33 in their final test match yesterday before they head to Cambodia on Thursday.
The national side now looks set to face Cambodia in their two matches for the Asian 5 Nations Division 5 tournament.
It was a strong start for the national side when they demolished the Barbarians with four tries and four conversions in the first quarter of the match.
The Barbarians couldn't manage to find a gap through to the try line leading them to fall back 28-0 for the first quarter at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Field C.
They were put through the same punishment in the second quarter when they were held back by the national defence.
The national side managed to seal 14 points from two tries and two conversions in the second quarter ending the first half at 42-0.
Tables turned for the national team when the Barbarians put out their strongest battle of the game in the third quarter.
The Barbarians scored 21 points from three tries and three conversions as well as holding the national team back to only score one try, ending the third quarter at 47-21.
Before the Barbarians could continue their streak after scoring the first seven points in the fourth quarter, the national side replied with two tries of their own and a conversion.
The Barbarians slotted the last five points in before the whistle blew to end the score at 59-33.
National rugby captain Md Azahar Awg Timbang told The Brunei Times, "This was a much better turnout than our last two games."
"We have fixed all the mistakes from the last two weeks.
"We had video sessions where national coach Ben Bourne would point out to us what we are doing wrong.
"Eighty per cent of the match we stuck to the game plan that we learnt during our training camp," said Md Azahar.
The captain added that the training camp was good with Bourne calling back the players that still required additional work and training after the team's morning sessions.
"We left our families for the training camp and as a captain that tells me that we are ready for this because we have sacrificed a lot."
