Myanmar Mandalay Academy head coach Aung Aung Tun was happy to leave the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas with a point after watching his side come back from a goal down twice to earn a 2-2 draw against the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Under-15 in the Malaysia FAM-Frenz Under-15 ASEAN Champions Trophy Group B match on Tuesday.
"It was a very interesting game. Both team played a very beautiful attacking football. In the first-half we made a lot of mistakes, but in the second-half we managed to compose ourselves and scored two goals," the head coach told The Brunei Times after the match.
"Getting a point here in Brunei is more than a good result. Brunei played very nice football in the first-half and in the second-half I told my players to focus and concentrate more in the game."
NFABD Under-15 looked set for their first three points in the competition after an own goal from Min Myat Kyaw and Naziruddin Hj Ismail fired the national team into a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
But Myanmar Mandalay Academy pulled a goal back on the 55th minute when Zwe Thet Paing scored from a free-kick, before Kyaw Lwin Moe's strike from outside the penalty box beat goalkeeper Muhd Ishyra Asmin Mohd Jabidi.
"I can see my players were tired during the game but they give their best. We had problems with the flight before coming here. It was slightly delayed. We only arrived last night (Monday) around 11.30 pm. So I think the players didn't have enough rest," said Aung.
"The players that we have now are the future national players. It is very important to let them compete in these kinds of competition."
Myanmar Mandalay Academy currently sit third in the table with four points, three behind group leaders Frenz Indonesia and one behind second placed Frenz Malaysia B.
The other match in group B saw Frenz Indonesia held to a 1-1 draw by Frenz Malaysia B.
Group A matches saw Frenz Malaysia A defeated Timor Leste Under-15 2-0, while,Vietnam PVF Academy defeated Thailand Chonburi Academy 6-1.
The NFABD Under-15 will play against Frenz Malaysia B at the Stadium Frenz Janda Baik, Pahang, on Saturday.
