Nightmare continues for Under-14 squad in AFC Championship

The national Under-14 football team suffered their biggest loss of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) U-14 Championship 2014 yesterday.

Playing in their third game, Brunei were thrashed 15-0 by Timor Leste in their Group E match.

Brunei fell to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Philippines in their Group E opener at the Wunna Theik Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on Tuesday.

The Sultanate were then hammered 11-0 in their second game against Vietnam on Wednesday.

Timor Leste currently leads the group despite being on equal footing with Malaysia.

Malaysia recorded their second win in the 2014 Asian Football Championship U-14 qualifying rounds after defeating the Philippines 2-0 at the Wunna Theik Stadium in Myanmar yesterday.

K Gunalan's boys chalked their first win by beating hosts Myanmar 2-0 in their opening match on Tuesday before playing to an 0-0 draw against Timor Leste the next day.

Brunei will take on Malaysia tomorrow.

The results of the ongoing Group E and also Group F matches, both in Myanmar, will complete the qualification stage of the eight-nation inaugural U-14 tournament.

Six teams Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Iran, South Korea and North Korea have already secured their berths in the finals, scheduled to be contested in Uzbekistan next year.
