Brunei A ended their campaign at the 4th Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce Games on a high note after winning another gold at the Bolkiah Stadium of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) headquarters in Gadong yesterday.
Fatin Zulraini Abdullah, Dk Amaliyana Pg Hj Mohammad, Dk Nuraffifah Izzati Pg Abdul Rahman and Nurulain Hj Affandi won the Unified Team Division 1 to give Brunei A a total of five golds and finish fifth in the seven-team table.
Brunei A also had six silvers and one bronze.
"Alhamdulillah, the athletes managed to give a good fight in the tournament. Most of the athletes that represented Brunei in this tournament have played in the National Bocce Competition at the Brunei Darussalam School in Berakas." said Brunei coach Hj Karim Hj Ahmad.
Brunei B managed to add two silver medals to finish at the bottom of the table.
The first silver came from Nurhaimin Mudin, Muhd Anis Firdaus Hj Maidin, Md Syukri Anuar and Muhd Fahmi Sapar in Team Division 1.
Nurhamra Chaine, Nisfiaturohmah Sofian, Siti Nurafiffah Azimah Sahal and Dyg Hjh Jamilah Sulaiman delivered their second silver of the day in the Unified Team Division 1.
Bangladesh took the overall title with nine golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
"I enjoyed it here in Brunei, the play ground and the volunteering services are excellent. The athletes also had a very good time here," said Bangladesh head coach Mohammad Abdusalim. "They played very well. Two of our athletes were sick in the competition but we still managed to end the tournament with nine golds."
Philippines finished second with seven golds and six silvers while Thailand were third with seven golds, four silvers and three bronzes.
Malaysia were fourth with five golds, seven silvers and three bronzes followed by Indonesia with three golds, six silvers and four bronzes.
Guest of honour, Lt Col (R) Pg Hj Rambli Pg Hj Bunut, the chairman of the 2012 Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce Games, awarded the medals.
