It was another record-breaking day for four national swimmers competing at the 10th Fina World Short Course Championships at the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex in the UAE.

Four more national short course records were set yesterday and Brunei's 'Fab Four' Amanda Liew Jia Xin, Anderson Lim Chee Wei, Mohd Bahrin Shah Behrom Shem and Lim Jyh Jye again added their names to the record books.

Liew set the record in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:19.71 erasing her old mark of 1:23.00.

Anderson then gave Brunei another new national short course record swimming the 400m freestyle in a time of 4:25.66 to better his record of 4:33.80. The 15-year-old swimmer finished 47th among 51 swimmers.

But, Anderson could only beat his personal best in the 50m butterfly finishing the race in 28.72 seconds compared to his old record of 28.90s.

The new national record in the 50m butterfly belongs to Jyh Jye who finished 91st among the 116 swimmers competing in the event. The 20-year-old national swimmer completed the race in 27.71s, erasing his old mark of 28.55s, to claim the new record.

Last but not least, Mohd Bahrin Shah clocked a time of 30.81s for a new record in the 50m backstroke, beating his old time of 31.21s.

"For the events today (Friday), all four swimmers gave their 100 per cent effort to achieve these feats," said Harjimmey Zainal (pic), who is filling in the national coach slot in Dubai, yesterday.

Only three swimmers will see action today with Liew set to swim in the 100m freestyle, Jyh Jye taking to the pool to improve his times in both the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley events and Md Bahrin Shah looking to do the same in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events.
