The final group of the Brunei Darussalam contingent returned home safely after concluding their campaign at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand and were warmly welcomed at Brunei International Airport in the early hours of yesterday.
The returning group comprised the Chef de Mission, Assistant Chef de Mission, a secretariat officer and members of the Brunei Polo team.
They were received by Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, along with officers from the ministry.
Speaking to the Bulletin, Brunei Polo team member Mohd Mazhodir bin Rahman, who won a bronze medal in the 4–6 goals event, described the experience as eye-opening.
“It was an honour to represent Brunei Darussalam at the SEA Games. Competing at this level was a very different and valuable experience for us,” he said, adding that the bronze medal match was fiercely contested.
“We fought hard and managed to secure the bronze medal in the end. I am very proud to be able to win a medal for our country, and we hope to compete again at the next SEA Games in Malaysia in 2027.”
