Eleven members of the Brunei contingent, comprising the National Karate Team, returned home on Saturday to a welcoming ceremony after winning two bronze medals at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The bronze medals were earned by Awangku Ahmad Munib Aiman bin Pengiran Haji Md Hasimudin in the Men’s Kumite -55-kilogramme (kg) event and Muhammad Harith bin Dahlan in the Men’s Kumite -60kg event.
National Kumite Karate Coach Haji Okhida Simangasing said, “Alhamdulillah, our athletes have done their best and managed to win two bronze medals. We will analyse the weaknesses and work to improve the athletes’ performance for future competitions.”
“Our athletes were leading in the early stages of their matches, but were unable to defend their lead. We need to improve on defending the lead in future competitions,” he added.
