Brunei Darussalam added three bronze medals on Friday and yesterday, bringing its medal tally to one silver and four bronze at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
In the karate competition, 55996 SLD (U) Muhammad Harith bin Dahlan secured a bronze medal in the men’s 60-kilogramme (kg) kumite category. His teammate, Awangku Ahmad Munib Aiman bin Pengiran Haji Md Hasimuddin, also claimed bronze in the men’s 55kg kumite event.
Meanwhile, Brunei’s wushu duo Abel Lim Wee Yuan and Majdurano Joel bin Majallah Sain won bronze in the duilian event with a score of 9.736. Thailand took the gold medal with 9.763, while Indonesia secured silver with 9.740.
In the women’s combined tai chi event, Brunei’s Basma Lachkar finished second with a score of 9.766.
The Philippines was placed first, while Singapore came in third. The final medal standings will be determined after today’s tai chi Sword event, with scores combined.
Wushu coaches Zhao Chunjie and Li Hui said they were pleased with the team’s performance, expressing pride in the athletes and wishing them success in the remaining competitions as they continue to represent Brunei Darussalam. – James Kon
