The King’s Baton Relay Run (KBR) in Brunei Darussalam will be held on November 9 as part of the lead-up to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The relay, organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), will be a celebration of sport, culture and environmental stewardship. It reflects the nation’s commitment to the values of the Commonwealth and efforts to engage youth, promote healthy lifestyles, and protect the environment.

The King’s Baton will be painted and decorated by local artist Abdul Ajihis bin Haji Terawih from the Language and Literature Bureau, showcasing the nation’s artistic heritage and Brunei’s culture as part of the international Baton journey.

The main event of the Brunei Darussalam leg will be the King’s Baton Relay Run, which will take place along Bandar Seri Begawan. The KBR participants, including invited sports associations, will have the opportunity to hold the King’s Baton during the run.

Registration will be open to all members of the public beginning on October 19. According to the BDNOC, participation is free and spaces are limited.

Following the run, the King’s Baton will be brought to Meragang Beach on November 10, to commemorate the plastic clean-up day. – James Kon
