The Brunei Wushu National Team will compete at the 17th World Wushu Championships in Brasilia, Brazil from August 31 to September 8.
The team is led by Head Coach Li Hui and Coach Zhao Chunjie, with three national athletes representing the country.
Adi Salihin will contest in the men’s nanquan, nandao and nangun; Walid Lachkar will compete in the men’s changquan, daoshu and gunshu; while Basma Lachkar will take part in the women’s taijiquan and taijijian.
Organised by the International Wushu Federation and hosted by the Brazilian Wushu Federation, the championships are the sport’s highest-level competition, featuring taolu and sanda.
National teams from around the world will participate, continuing the tradition that began with the inaugural edition in Beijing, China in 1991. The biennial tournament has since been staged 16 times. – James Kon
