The Brunei Darussalam’s wushu team added a silver medal during the final day of the 12th Asian Junior Wushu Championship in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, China on Wednesday.

The country’s female youth team comprising Lim Wanxin, Bella Lee Tseen Qin and Belle Lee Tseen Se, won silver in the Duilian event, capping off an impressive haul of two gold, three silver and one bronze medals for the Sultanate.

The team scored 9.350 after performing in perfect harmony, with well-coordinated offence and defence despite being their first time participating in the competition.

Hong Kong won the gold medal with a score of 9.366, and the bronze medal went to Macau (9.333).

Head coach Li Hui lauded the team’s discipline, respect and excellent team spirit.

“They received high praise from other teams and referees. After the competition, I gave the team members a summary, emphasising that they should learn from each other’s strengths, work hard, and train diligently to make faster progress,” he said. – JAMES KON
