Brunei Darussalam’s young wushu athlete Meagan Marie Keasberry secured the bronze medal in the girls’ taijijian event at the 11th Asian Junior Wushu Championships at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion in Macau yesterday.
The local talent has been hailed as the future of the country following a remarkable showing in the continental meet.
The 10-year-old has been working tirelessly under the guidance of the women’s wushu coach Zhao Chunjie. Indonesia’s Breena Jeffelin Susanto clinched gold while Malaysia’s Yu Xuan Ng took silver.
The competition attracted young athletes from 23 countries and regions vying for honours in the taolu and sanda categories.
The rules and regulations of the tournament was based in accordance of the International Wushu Federation.
The 11th Asian Junior Wushu Championships was organised by the Wushu Federation of Asia and hosted by Wushu General Association of Macau. – Fadhil Yunus
