Brunei Darussalam collected the bronze medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) through the mixed team badminton event at the Morodok Techo Badminton Hall in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The mixed team comprised Mahyuddin bin Haji Abas, Awangku Azri Safwan bin Pengiran Haji Jofri, Chang Huei Woo, Mohammad Shahirul bin Mohd Jenin, Siti Marinah binti Mohd Salleh and Nuraqillah binti Haji Shahroney.
The country was given a bye and progressed to the semi-finals where they were guaranteed at least bronze.
Brunei lost to Myanmar 3-0 in the mixed doubles, men’s singles and women’s singles.
Myanmar advanced to the final while Brunei shared joint bronze with Laos following the loss.
The mixed team featured emerging countries in the sport including Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste besides Brunei.
