Brunei Darussalam athlete Muhammad Noor Firdaus Ar-Rasyid bin Haji Mohd Idris missed out on a spot in the finals of the 200 metres event at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday.
The national sprinter clocked a time of 21.65 seconds in Heat 2 to finish outside the qualifying places.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hakeem Ismail finished with a time of 23.02 seconds.
The top eight athletes qualified to the final round with Indonesian favourite Lalu Muhammad Zohri among the mix with a time of 21.13 seconds.
Thailand’s Soraoat Dapbang led the group of qualified runners with a time of 20.74 seconds followed by Vietnam’s Ngoc Nghia Ngan and Thailand’s Puripol Boonson with a time of 21.09 seconds.
In the final round, Soraoat won gold with a time of 20.62 seconds, while Vietnam’s Ngoc Nghia Ngan took silver with a time of 20.84 seconds.
Indonesia’s Lalu Muhammad Zohri managed bronze with a time of 21.02 seconds.
