The national netball team left the country yesterday to compete in the Deloitte International Super League 2023 in Singapore on until March 19.
It will mark a first appearance for the country’s netball squad- which is also popularly known as the Royal Bees.
Also joining the team was Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah.
The delegation is also accompanied by Assistant Manager Hajah Sabariah binti Haji Kamel Jumat and physiotherapist Yvette Kortekaas.
The newly-assembled squad will see Zuraidah binti Haji Amit acting as team captain and Siti Marhayati binti Ahmad as the assistant captain, two of the more senior and experienced players in the squad.
The team also includes the trio of Siti Nurul Nazihah binti Haji Hassan, Hajah Nurul Ajeerah binti Abdullah and Nur Ady Elzza Ezrenna binti Sofian, all of whom had gained considerable regional and international experience.
The Royal Bees are also joined by the youngest member 18-year-old Dayangku Daniella Hancox, Nurul Aqmal binti Abdul Jamal, Norroshafizah binti Zanuidi, Nur Amirah Fazzeratul Hidayah binti Awang Putih, Nur Alya’ Natashya binti Haji Suhaimi, Eileen Koh Xian Tian, Chieng Hei Yien, and Hazwani Husna binti Hamzah.
The competition will provide an opportunity for newly-appointed coach Nur Hafizah binti Haji Abdul Sidek to compete against formidable opponents from Singapore and Thailand. The newly-announced squad was based on a selection process conducted by the Brunei Netball Association (BNA) for the Netball Super League in Singapore last January. The Royal Bees will begin their campaign against Blaze at the Jurong East Sports Hall, Singapore tomorrow.
