The Brunei Darussalam national wushu contingent returned home to a heroes’ welcome following their performance at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Among the contingent was national wushu hero Muhammad Adi Salihin bin Roslan who won the gold medal in the men’s nanquan event with a score of 9.71.
Present to welcome them was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
The gold medallist shared that it took sacrifices, perseverance and dedication to achieve his goal.
“It was an intense three months of training for all of us due to the limited time we were given to prepare. We did not go home and stayed in the hostel, completing training from morning till night. We really had to push ourselves,” said Muhammad Adi Salihin.
The national wushu athlete also stated that he believes everyone can be the best they can be and win gold for the country.
“Our national athletes should believe in themselves, give their all and adopt a positive mindset. I truly believe our athletes can win gold for the country,” he said.
Muhammad Adi Salihin continues his streak of winning gold following the 30th SEA Games in Manila, where he claimed top spot in the men’s nandao event.
