Brunei Darussalam’s polo team lost 8-3 to Malaysia in their second 0-2 low goal preliminary round match at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at the Miguel Romero Polo Field in Calatagan, Batangas yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council; and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah attended to watch the match.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah led the Division ‘B’ team which also comprise captain Muhammad Farid Abdullah, Huzaimi bin Haji Mahari and Idris Sirat.
Also in attendance were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar.
The team will seek for a second medal in the sport following the exploits of the Division ‘A’ team that took part in the 4-6 high goal event.
Brunei Darussalam will fancy their chances of taking their place in Monday’s final if they defeat Philippines, who were beaten 9-4.5 by Indonesia in the other match.
Brunei are currently second place with the same number of points with Philippines on goal difference.
