Mohd Sufi Shayiran, a first year student at UBD, said, “Juggling university life and training is not easy. Sometimes it can be really tough. I try my best to balance training and university work.”
Coach Li Hui said, “The sport of Wushu is gaining prominence in international sporting events. This is the first time that 2018 FISU World University Wushu Championship is hosted and Wushu is also looking to be featured in the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.”
On the potential of winning medals in the championship, he said, “If both Mohd Sufi Shayiran and Ang Guang Lian display their best performance, they can collect medals in the competition.”
He noted that top Wushu athletes from China, Malaysia and Indonesia are expected to make a big impact in the competition but Brunei’s athletes will strive their best to win.
