The junior members of the national wushu team delivered good news from Kuala Lumpur for Brunei...s Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebrations when two members won gold and silver at the 2014 Chin Woo Wushu Championship.
Basma Lachkar first clinched gold in the Girls... Sword event, with compatriot Ling Dexuan later securing a place on the podium in the Girls... Spear event, finishing second.
According to national wushu coach Li Hui, both members are among the upcoming talents in Brunei...s wushu fraternity, and for this competition, the Brunei Wushu Federation selected Under-13 exponents to increase their exposure and get them up to pace in a competitive environment.
"All these preparations are in place to gear the team up for the 2019 Southeast Asia (SEA) Games, which will be hosted by Brunei," said the national coach. "The performance of our junior members in this championship are excellent.
"I am very satisfied with the results and the exposure given to the kids, and at least we now know that we have a batch of juniors ready to step up to the plate when they move into the next stage of their competitive career."
A total of 14 junior wushu exponents from Brunei aged from seven to 13 are taking part in the competition which ends today.
