Nationaal discus athlete, Mohd Adenin Bolhan, landed in 13th place in the men's discus only managing 34.07m during the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) in Perlis, Malaysia, yesterday.
Falling short of his 40m personal best he set before the Games, Adenin was unable to proceed to round four after failing to land in the top 8. Adenin recorded two fouls in his first and third throw seeing only one of his measurements go through at the Stadium Tuanku Syed Putra in Kangar.
The eventual winner was Irfan Muhammad Shamshuddin from Negeri Sembilan posting a distance of 54.66m. Terengganu's Ikbal Muhammad Kamarudin took second with 39.76m while Negeri Sembilan's Muhammad Ali Afifi Najiy came in third with 39.71m
Fellow athlete, Norhidayatullah Johari will have another chance at proving herself in the women's 200m event today. Norhidayatullah started her campaign off well in the 100m after she qualified through the first round with a time of 12.87s finishing in third out of five competitors to move into the semi-finals on Thursday.
The level of competition was then too strong for her in the semi-final as she crossed the line in seventh out of eight runners clocking in at 12.89s.
Md Izzuddin Irfan Md Faizal remains Brunei's only medalist following his gold performance on Tuesday when took the title in karatedo for the 84kg and above category by outclassing Johor's Julius Goh 9-2. The 19-year-old Md Izzuddin single handedly improved the medal haul for Brunei compared to the Sultanate's last participation in 2012 which yielded four bronze in Pahang.
Brunei sent 51 athletes to their previous participation, while only 25 athletes are representing the country in this edition, namely in athletics, karatedo, pencak silat, sepak takraw and taekwondo.
Terengganu, who were the overall champions in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012 hold on to their lead with 34 gold, 33 silver and 18 bronze to bring their total to 85 medals. Federal Territories trail close behind with 32 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze medals bringing their total to 86.
Sarawak are third on the leader board raking in 58 medals in with 25 gold, 14 silver and 19 bronze.
Selangor, who headed into the games as the defending champions with 23 gold, 17 silver and 30 bronze in 2013, does not look like they will be able to retain their title. They currently have the highest medal count at 93, but their haul of 23 gold, 28 silver and 42 bronze medals leave them sitting on fourth in the table.
