The Lions replaced the Thunder at the top of the Brunei National Lawn Bowls Premier League 2014 after the triple events during Wednesday's fifth round.
The new leaders have collected nine and a half points after defeating the Warriors 24-9 at the Lawn Bowls Arena of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas. The Thunder are now second with eight and a half points after losing to the Stingrays 28-12.
The Tigers moved from fourth to third with eight points after defeating the Panthers 18-15 while the Jets sit fourth in the league with seven points despite losing 21-10 to the Sabres. The Panthers sit fifth with seven points behind the Jets. The other match saw the Scorpions held to a 15-15 draw by the Eagles.
The bottom half of the table have the Sabres sixth with seven points.The Scorpions are seventh with six and a half points while the Stingrays are eighth with six points. The Warriors sit ninth with three points while the Eagles are at the bottom of the table with two and a-half points. The competition continues on Sunday with the fifth round of the singles and pairs events starting at 4pm.
Each round comprises one singles, one pairs and one triples game. The top four teams after nine rounds will advance into the next phase of the tournament.
The first of its kind, the tournament kicked off on May 6 with 30 lawn bowlers separated into 10 teams.
