Brunei's only representative at the 2014 Mezz 10-Ball Asian Tour Ahmad Taufiq Murni ended his campaign in the last-16 last night, following a 8-3 loss to Malaysia's Amir Ibrahim at the Pool Master, Mountbatten Road in Singapore.
The 25-year-old was given a bye in the qualifying rounds and he started his day with a 8-1 win over China's Xiao Dong in the last-32 to set up his match against Amir.
"Taufiq was down 3-0 but he won the next two racks to make it 3-2. But Amir was just too experienced with his safety and attacking play," said national cue sports coach Lim Tat Hwe.
"Taufiq lost the momentum and lost the game. Losing the momentum is all about mentality and I think he needs to continue participating in these kinds of tournaments," added Lim.
The head coach stated in the previous report that he is using this competition to prepare Taufiq for bigger tournaments like the China Open which is slated to take place from June 1-8 in Shanghai.
Taufiq represented the country at the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Myanmar back in December.
He lost his openers in both the men's 9-ball and 10-ball singles events.
